We at DPI Labs are deeply saddened by the passing of Jerry West, a basketball legend and executive whose contributions transcended the sport. Known for his iconic status on the court, Jerry was equally committed to philanthropy.
In 2010, Jerry became a generous donor to Sowing Seeds for Life (SSFL), a non-profit founded by Vicki Brown, CEO of DPI Labs. SSFL provides food for those in need in the San Gabriel Valley. His involvement brought significant attention and resources, reflecting his desire to be remembered for giving back.
Jerry joined sports legends like James Worthy and Elgin Baylor in the SSFL Celebrity Golf Tournament at Sierra La Verne Country Club where an emotional Q&A session moderated by Bill Dwyre featured Jerry sharing personal stories. Jerry spoke passionately about the importance of giving back, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.
Vicki Brown remarked, “Jerry’s involvement, support, and generous donations will have a positive impact on both the underprivileged and hungry people in La Verne and our surrounding communities.” Fourteen years later, his legacy continues to inspire generosity and community service, with SSFL still serving those in need.
As we honor Jerry West, we remember a man whose legacy extends beyond basketball. His dedication to philanthropy through DPI Labs and SSFL has left an indelible mark. Thank you, Jerry, for your noble mission in making the world a better place. You will be greatly missed.
