A big thing each year for Sowing Seeds for Life are two area food and toy giveaways held in December. Helping with the toy drive were students at Damien High School. Some 800 toys were distributed to underprivileged children by Santa Claus and his helpers, which included Damien students and football players.
The toy drive, which began Nov. 9 at Damien’s final regular-season football game of the season, was a joint venture with Sowing Seeds for Life, a local charity that feeds the needy and also provides families with many services.
Sowing Seeds for Life, or SSFL for short, is putt on the two toy giveaways. The first one was the fourth annual SSFL Christmas in the Park event at Ganesha Park, 1575 White Ave. in Pomona on Saturday, Dec. 3. The second one took place on Wednesday, Dec. 21, in the parking lot at DPI Labs, 1350 Arrow Highway, in LaVerne during one of SSFL’s regular food pantry giveaways.
Besides the toy giveaways, these two events will also featured pictures with Santa, kids’ games, live entertainment, food, snacks and beverages for purchase and other fun activities. A number of local businesses will be represented as both events.
