The seventh annual Sowing Seeds for Life charity golf tournament will be held at Glendora Country Club on Monday, Feb. 29, with an 11 a.m. tee time. The entry fee is $150 per golfer.
The Sowing Seeds tournament annually features a sports panel discussion, which this year will feature Los Angeles Newspaper Group sports columnist Tom Hoffarth and the recently retired Bill Dwyre of San Dimas, former sports editor and columnist for the L.A. Times.
Another scheduled panelist is Michael Young, a former wide receiver for UCLA, the Los Angeles Rams and the Denver Broncos before entering a career as a sports executive. He is now a senior vice president for the Dodgers.
The fourth member of the panel will Glendora resident Chris Roberts, the radio voice of the UCLA Bruins for 23 years prior to his recent retirement.
The panel moderator will be Larry Stewart, a former Times sportswriter who is a member of the Sowing Seeds for Life golf tournament committee and was the special honoree at the organization’s last tournament.
The honoree this year is the irrepressible Brian McNerney, CEO of the La Verne Chamber of Commerce. McNerney, a huge Notre Dame fan, is beloved throughout the area and has been a big supporter of Sowing Seeds for Life.
